The Tram-Museum Zurich
The Tram-Museum Zurich tells of the development, of the major changes brought about industrialisation, of modern urban mobility with public transport.

The tram has a long tradition in Zurich. The Tram Museum gives tram enthusiasts an insight into the history of this urban means of transport.
The Tram-Museum Burgwies
Original vehicles from the years 1897 to 1968, uniforms, ticket machines, a model tram system and the «Cobralino» children’s tram are just some of the highlights in the museum.
The Burgwies tram depot
Since 2007, the Zurich Tram Museum has been housed in the Burgwies depot, which was built in 1893. The Burgwies depot is the oldest surviving tram depot in the city of Zurich. Used by the VBZ until 1997, it is still fully operational today. Over 1600m2 of exhibition space is dedicated to the Zurich tram and its history.
Discover tram history
Ever since the first Rösslitram rolled through Zurich’s streets in 1882, the tram has been part of the cityscape. The eventful history of Zurich’s trams began at a time of rapid technical and social change. A visit to the Tram Museum is also a journey of discovery into the past of the city of Zurich since industrialisation.

The permanent exhibition
The permanent exhibition on the history and significance of local public transport shows original vehicles from 1897 to the present day. Most of the museum vehicles can be entered and viewed from the inside. There are also historical uniforms, ticket machines, photographs, documents and various other exhibits. Special exhibitions are organised on a regular basis.

An excursion destination for the whole family
Playful elements make the Tram Museum attractive for families too. Climb aboard the museum vehicles, view a tram from below and take a ride on the «Cobralino» children’s tram – even the youngest visitors can have fun at the Tram Museum Zurich.
Audioguide
The Hearonymus audio guide in four languages (German, French, Italian and English) is now available to all visitors to the museum free of charge.
